System takeovers is a subject we’ve discussed previously but felt it was worth revisiting, given how regularly it crops up.

It never ceases to amaze us how often companies are either left in the lurch by their fire and security systems providers or frustrated by the level of service they are currently receiving. At the same time, we fully appreciate that changing providers can appear to be more trouble than it’s worth - but it needn’t or shouldn’t be.

First and foremost, as the customer, it is perfectly reasonable to expect complete confidence in your system installer who, by association, is also likely to be the organisation responsible for its service and maintenance. If the system is poorly serviced you lose faith in those tasked with its upkeep and you are quite within your rights to make alternative arrangements.

It may well be time for a change in the management of your commercial and home security system arrangements if any of the following applies to you:

1. Inheriting a system

You are moving to new premises and picking up the pieces of a previously installed security system. This is a typical scenario. The equipment may be obsolete, difficult to operate, or the original provider is either no longer in business or unable to keep it maintained. Where do you turn?

    2. Insufficient skills

The speed of technological development in home and commercial intruder alarms, access control systems, CCTV and fire security equipment is constantly on the march. Having a provider that is fully trained and compliant across all these disciplines is paramount. One frustration that we frequently encounter with orphan or takeover clients is that, as time has gone on, they’ve had to call in different firms to handle specific service or maintenance issues – because, individually, they lack across-the-board capability. What’s really required is one provider who can take care of the entire operation.

      3. The current provider is too expensive

Again, a common theme is mounting costs. Whilst it’s fair to say that security and fire safety systems need to be budgeted for, it shouldn’t be the case that charges become prohibitive. Fixed pricing for service and maintenance is something that should be agreed upon at the outset and then adhered to, so you don’t end up with any nasty surprises.

        4. You are not happy with the current provider

For all the reasons above, it’s understandable why the current provider/s may no longer be flavour of the month. To add to this, if they fail to keep appointments, are difficult to get hold of, are slow to respond and you are simply not happy with the quality of their work, collectively this can all contribute to why you would be eyeing up alternative arrangements.

What systems can we take-over and maintain?

This is an extensive list and should cover all your requirements. We install, service and maintain the following systems:

          • Intruder Alarms
          • Fire Alarms
          • Fire Extinguishers
          • CCTV
          • Access control
          • Door entry systems
          • Smoke Cloak
          • Emergency Lighting

How would the takeover process work?

Once we are aware that there is an issue relating to your current system, prior to the takeover, our dedicated and fully trained team of multi-disciplined engineers will arrange a time to thoroughly test and inspect the equipment. This service is FREE and without obligation.

Once we have ensured that the installation is correctly functioning or advised you on the best measures to take in order to fix any problem areas, we should be in a position to take over the service and maintenance on an ongoing basis.
