Whether your domestic or commercial security system consists of an intruder alarm, fire alarm, CCTV or a combination of all these, there are big advantages for having everything connected up to an alarm monitoring centre. Here’s why it is important to have this additional layer of protection.

1. Fast Response, Minimised Damage

Most burglaries are carried out within a space of minutes, which is why catching criminals in the act can be challenging. The advantage of having your property linked up to an alarm monitoring centre is that this will ensure the fastest possible response time to any security breach.

Our ARC will be able to alert the relevant people (police, security company etc.) within minutes of the break-in. This could minimise any potential damage to the property and even lead to the burglars being caught red-handed. It might even stop the offence in its tracks.

2. Guaranteed Response

The prospect of personally facing up to a burglary, during daylight hours or at night, can be extremely unnerving. Bear in mind, most break-ins occur between six at night and six in the morning. A nominated keyholder would probably be the first on the scene, initially without any backup. Would you want to be placed in this position?

And what happens if you are away on holiday, or you are in a location where there is no Wi-Fi or poor phone signals? You may miss the alert altogether if indeed you would want to attend.

An ARC will remove this layer of responsibility and pressure. They can be relied upon to contact properly prepared and accredited responders to deal with the situation as they find it, ensuring that you remain at a safe distance and out of the firing line.

    3. Alerts without the need for noisy alarms

If you rely on a standard burglar alarm to save the day, this can be somewhat hit-and-miss. The alarm may sound but if the burglars suspect the property is unoccupied, they may carry out the theft regardless. In this case, you would be relying on a neighbour or passer-by to report to the police that the sounder had activated. Worse still, a bystander might assume it was a faulty alarm and the incident could pass without being investigated.

An ARC removes the need for sounders to go off. Once a security breach has happened, the alert will be verified at the Centre, from where the appropriate response will be instantly actioned. This saves the local neighbourhood from being inconvenienced by intrusive alarm noise. It might also help to catch the thieves in the act if they are unaware that the incident has been remotely clocked.

      4. Reduced Insurance Premiums

Whilst insurance companies look favourably on properties where a burglar alarm has been installed, they’ll smile even more kindly on security systems which are linked to a monitoring centre – because they recognise that this provides an extra layer of protection.

Indeed, engaging in a monitoring service can be extremely cost-effective. Not only will it ensure your insurance premium is cut back, but even with the expense of engaging the ARC services, the overall outlay should still end up being less than the cost of the original premium.

        5. A Cheaper Option than Security Guards

So, what if you employed security guards around the clock to patrol your site? Yes, they do provide a deterrent. The downside of manned protection, however, is that it can be fearfully expensive. In contrast, a professional alarm monitoring service with interactive CCTV response will cost a small portion of what security guards charge.

        6. Peace of Mind from Constant Alarm Monitoring

You can’t put a price on peace of mind, especially when the safety and security of your family, employees and prized possessions are on the line. It can, therefore, be a source of comfort and reassurance to know that a professional operation is keeping a check on things at all times, acting immediately anytime the security system signals an alert.

Of course, you would hope that this would never happen, and it may not. But given that a sizeable 58% of break-ins take place when someone is present in the home, it shows just how vulnerable we can all be. These incidents can also lead to years of mental anguish, fear and post-traumatic stress.

If a monitoring service was an integral part of the security package, however, the speed at which someone could get to the property might prevent a bad situation from developing into something far worse.
