Ensuring your commercial premises benefit from an appropriate level of security 24/7 isn’t just a case of installing the equipment and letting it maintain itself. This would be a false economy, even self-defeating. You’d be doing yourself and your staff a huge disservice.
Whilst modern-day intruder alarms and CCTV systems are extremely reliable, they can’t be expected to look after themselves all the time!
Look at it like this. If there was no one on hand to regularly maintain your system and an equipment fault occurred without anyone’s knowledge, what would happen in the event of a break-in? Who would come to the rescue?
Say the alarm was activated, but because it wasn’t being properly maintained and monitored, the police would be in no position to respond because they wouldn’t have been alerted. You’d be relying on a passer-by to ring 999, leaving everything to chance. What would happen if an alarm went off in the middle of the night (false or otherwise) and there was no one available to deactivate it?
What does the NSI recommend?
An audible-only system, unconnected to a monitoring centre, would be next to useless if it was triggered and you were away on holiday and other keyholders were nowhere near the site.
Without having system maintenance in place, and providing round-the-clock support, you could be laying yourself open to just such eventualities.
There is no point in having a security system installed if a) it doesn’t function properly or b) it isn’t being effectively monitored. Your premises and staff could be left vulnerable and unprotected.
And it isn’t just us saying it!
The UK security industry’s independent regulatory body, the National Security Inspectorate (NSI), recommends that security systems are kept regularly maintained, to ensure that any potential malfunctions are quickly identified and remedied – before a complete system failure is left to happen.
It’s also worth pointing out that if you have been lax on maintenance and a security breach occurs, you could find that your insurance would be invalid and, potentially, you could lay yourself open to prosecution.
For all these reasons, therefore, ongoing system maintenance is a must.
That said, it would be remiss of any security company to leave you without any proper maintenance arrangements in place, but, regrettably, this does happen.
At Justice Fire & Security, we offer unrivalled service and maintenance packages bespoke to your business, across all industry sectors – for shops and offices, factories and warehouses. A service contract designed for the purpose should be tailored to the scale and complexity of the installation.
This will guarantee that your system is given a thorough overhaul at least annually. Rest assured, we will always notify you in advance that an impending service inspection is due to take place. We’ll make the date with you, rather than you having to remind us to attend! That’s not the way it works!
My Commercial Security System isn’t being maintained. What should I do?

If you are unhappy with your existing maintenance arrangements or do not currently have an adequate service arrangement in place, we will make a site visit and provide a FREE quotation to cover all your maintenance requirements.
